The date is set

Well, if you are superstitious turn away now! Simon's surgery is scheduled for April 13th which happens to be a Friday. This is the first date she offered me and I took it. The doc is out next week. This works out nicely I think. Simon and Hannah have spring break next week so they can spend time being kids and having fun. Then they can enjoy Easter. With the surgery on a Friday Hannah won't have to miss a lot of school to be able to be at the hospital with us. PLUS, I am Misty's doula and she happens to be due on the 1st. That gives her plenty of time to have the baby and I know I can be there. I really wanted to be there for Misty and Lee.

Simon will still have some pre-op stuff to do like getting a CT scan and we go in on the 9th for some pre-admission testing. We won't know what time he goes in on Friday until we call on Thursday night and they'll tell us then.

Friday the 13th is a lucky day: Marlena was born on one & it doesn't get cooler than that.
Bob & I are sending best wishes for Simon's swift recovery. You're in our thoughts and prayers.

Mom stole my thunder. I was just going to tell you that Marlena was a Friday the 13th baby, and I have considered it my luckiest day ever since. We even had mini b-day's on every friday the 13th when she was littler.

I agree that Friday the 13th is a lucky day. Good luck with everything I am thinking about you all! As for your moms group outing, I am so happy for you. I know they will never be as cool as us but it makes me long for the days that we had a group. Miss ya!

OK, Misty, one more reason to have this baby near your due date! I always hated the term "due date" - being late every time made me feel like I'd somehow failed to perform in an adequate fashion ... that, and all the people who constantly say in astonishment "you're still pregnant?"

Ria- No moms group could ever compare to our crazy group in Denver!

Hey let me tell you something about the number 13 and halloween. I got pregnant with Mallory on a Friday the 13th, found out on 10/31 (Halloween). Amber was born at 10:31 in the morning on the 13th. I moved into apartment 13 on Halloween and my grandfather was born on halloween with 13 toes (True Story). April 13th is also Ron and I's 5 year anniversary.

Anyway - Think of it as lucky since it is the first day for Simon to start his recovery and live a happy, healthy life.

Love you guys.

Well I was all scared and superstitious about the Friday the 13th thing, but after reading the other comments it looks like it's a better day than I thought. ;) I'm glad you finally got it scheduled - I hope everything goes just perfectly!!!
Oh, and I agree with Ria - it makes me miss our mom's group to hear about your outing - I hope you had a good time! They definitely can't be as cool as us. :) hee hee

Friday the 13th is a day like any other and it depends on who is looking at it that dictates its power. If it is suronded by good things like birthdays, annerversies, and surgerys then it is a good day. I think that now a days people only have fun putting any superstition on the day and really has now power in it at all.

I am just glad that simon is finally schedureled so that he can get past this scary time in his life and hopefully this will be the last surgery. give him a bug hug from me and so not forget a big slobbery kiss for hannah.
